M&P Survey Equipment joined Leica Geosystems’ Reality Capture Team at Warrington Sports Club on Tuesday for their Reality Capture for Digital Construction day.
James Whitworth of Leica opened the event speaking about Hexagon Geosystems and the range of reality capture equipment available. Then it was time to get into the demonstrations. Nathan Savory took over with a demo of the RTC360. He spoke about the efficiency and simplicity of construction workflows with the RTC360.
Phil Shuttleworth introduced Leica’s iCON product range for construction including robotic total stations and GPS equipment. He also talked through the iCON software which offers customised positioning solutions for use in digital construction.
It was then time to head outside into the Warrington sunshine. Mobile mapping specialist Antonio Mendes led a demo of the Leica Pegasus. The mobile mapping solution comes in the form of a mobile sensor platform containing GNSS receivers, IMU and a DMI fitted to the roof of a vehicle. Antonio spoke about how the Pegasus is being used around the world to bring construction into the digital age.
Juan Madronal flew the new Leica Aibot AX20. There was perfect weather for a drone demo and Juan was even joined by a family of ducks as he plotted the Aibot’s flight plan. This piece of equipment provides a complete UAV solution for aerial surveying, mapping and construction with fast data collection and a simplistic workflow.
Chris Gibbons presented the Leica MS60 to his audience. The Multistation combines all measurement technologies in one package, making it applicable for various industries and purposes. Chris’ presentation also included a walkthrough of the Inspire software which can use all major CAD formats and provides sophisticated measurement and analysis features.
Dave Langton, HDS & Reality Capture Specialist at M&P, said: “This event has done a great job of emphasising that Leica is a solutions provider. They are well known for the quality and accuracy in the hardware they design – and that showed today, but a complete solution requires the back up of efficient software.
“The construction workflows demonstrated today emphasise the power of the complete solutions across the range of Hexagon products and the inherent advantage of dealing with Hexagon companies.”
